I think that Clemson was the first visit and they showed the Manning family what a visit should look like.how buttoned up and organized a staff should be. I think the family has a lot of connections to the people at the University of Georgia and that coaching staff. For Ole Miss, obviously, he's been there a bunch, but this was his first time going there as a football recruit and seeing it from that lens. WILTFONG: I think that all of those visits were exciting in their own way. The Spirit: In your mind, is there one visit in particular taken by Manning this summer that may loom more significant than any of the others? I think he wants to get to know these schools and campuses a little better." Arch Manning (Photo: Isidore Newman School) I think he got to do some stuff like that. These summer visits were touring football facilities, sitting down with coaches he has Zoomed with for a long time. I think that's kind of the next piece of the puzzle. I think the next things is going to see games, see some atmospheres, talk to some regular students on campuses to just get a feel for the environment from a football standpoint and from a student-athlete standpoint. I don't think he's anywhere close to deciding right now. Depending on how those visits go, will have ramifications toward when he will decide. Then again, there are still some places that he hasn't seen yet. He's going to certainly watch how they play this fall, and he's building relationships. I think that he's still in the stages of getting to know schools. WILTFONG: "I would say my guess is that he would make a decision next spring going into the summer, somewhere in there. Do you have any expectations when Manning may want to make a public commitment? The Spirit: Quarterbacks tend to make their commitments early in the recruiting process. It will be interesting to see what games he's able to get to this fall and how that fits around his schedule with his games and what big games are going on the weekends he's available to go see some ball games and see some atmospheres." From an Ole Miss perspective, you're happy he came when he did. But he also worked that around being a team captain and taking that seriously and preparing for a junior season.I think there are some schools he wanted to go see that he hasn't had a chance to go see. Obviously, they were able to put together some trips to see Clemson and then Texas and SMU and Alabama and Georgia and then Ole Miss. I think, if they had more time, they would have saw more schools than the ones they did. WILTFONG: "I think he's just trying to get to as many places as he can.
